This past weekend was the red carpet premiere party for Laughs the new TV show on fox produced and hosted by Steve Hofstetter (who also happens to be the hubs). Held at the iconic Laugh Factory on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, the party was so fun – the red carpet, a screening of the show, cocktails, and snacks.
Since I work from home and getting dressed at all on any given day is a huge accomplishment, I decided to go full on Hollywood for the event – fake hair, fake lashes, fake tan (and fake boobs of course). My makeup was done by the lovely and talented Emily Oliver and we decided on a dramatic smokey eye and a neutral lip to give my dress a glam rock feel. Emily is one of the most talented makeup artists I have ever worked with. If you need professional makeup services in the Los Angeles area, I can’t recommend her enough.
I loved my dress! It was only $35 to rent on Rent The Runway which gave me budget to also rent a purse and earrings. And my hairdresser suggested Halo Couture hair extensions. It’s basically a bunch of high quality remy hair on a fish wire that sits on your head. No glue, no clips, and no damage to my hair and I just take it off at the end of the night and hang it in my closet. It’s like a third pet. It also reminds me of Ben Franklin.
On a side note: getting ready for this event took a village. Though it was wonderful and amazing and glamorous, I wouldn’t want to do it on a regular basis – it would be exhausting!
After a screening of the show, Steve brought some of the featured comedians on stage for some quick interviews.
And who doesn’t love Kim Coles! She told everyone a story about how one of her earlier gigs was warming up the crowd on The Cosby Show and she was lectured by Bill Cosby about her career in comedy. She absorbed nothing because she was completely overwhelmed by the situation.
All in all, a huge night for us. I’m so very proud of Steve. Now please set your DVR to record Laughs! Saturday nights at midnight on Fox in select markets. Not in your city? Full episodes are added every Monday to the show’s YouTube channel.
